FROZEN MERCURY PRODUCTIONS
Frozen Mercury Productions is an up and coming film company based in Louisville, Kentucky. Our group consists of a very talented group of writers, directors, special FX and make up artists. Many of the actors that we've showcased in our projects are talented, award winning actors who are
second to none. We have many new projects in the works and are all very excited about the weeks and months to come.
Frozen Mercury began with Eric Severs, who started making films while he was in college. His filmmaking company, then called "Freedies Studios", named after his college, Freed-Hardeman University, consisted of only himself and the on screen talent.
The summer before his senior year, Eric teamed up with his father Irvin, and two coworkers, Jeff Weber and Jared Durall, in entering the 2007 48 Hour Film Festival. Weber would quickly become an invaluable asset to the company, as a cameraman, editor, and special effects artist. Durall's enthusiasm for the company and willingness to take on almost any job needed makes him a welcome asset to the company.
Freedies Studios entered their Sci Fi short film "The Timebenders" into the festival. The film was mediocre at best, but every filming is a learning experience.
Later that year, after tossing around several different names, Freedies Studios renamed themselves, "Frozen Mercury Productions". Weber quickly created a logo for the company, and the name and logo has remained relatively unchanged ever since.
In 2008, after Eric graduated from college with a degree in Media Arts, the FMP crew readied themselves for another year at the 48 Hour Film Festival, this time pulling the genre, 'Suspense/Thriller' out of the hat.
The film "Shadows of the Past" featured some new on screen talent, and gave Weber a chance to show off some of us special effects skills. Unfortunately, the film did not garner any awards.
In the fall that same year, Eric attended a fim writer seminar in downtown Louisville, where he met filmmaker Mark Poole, known for his independent zombie comedy "Dead Moon Rising". In October, after some persistence, Poole offered to let Eric lend a hand on the filming of his new film, "Dead Moon Rising 2". This experience opened many doors for Eric and the rest of the FMP crew, as he met many talented people on the set, both actors and off screen talent.
In 2009, Eric rejoined Mark Poole and Anubis Digital Studios in the making of the trailer for their proposed television series "Requiem for the Fallen".
In the Spring of 2009, Eric began writing a pilot for his own proposed Television series, a zombie drama series titled "Life After Z-Day". Once the pilot script was completed, Eric began planning to shoot a trailer to help pitch the series.
Using many of the talented people he met on the set of Requiem, Frozen Mercury began shooting the trailer in the Summer of 2009. The on screen talent would include John Wells, Sebrina Siegel, Katie Stanley, Mike Seely, and newcomer Robbie Stephens. Behind the camera, the zombies in the trailer would be brought to life (or unlife) by makeup artist Autumn Barefoot.
In between filming for Life After Z-Day, Frozen Mercury entered it's third year of the 48 Hour Film Festival, pulling the genre "Detective/Cop" from the hat. Their film "Vacation Day" featured some of the best talent they've ever had in a 48 Hour Film, including John Wells, Sebrina Siegel, and Jessica Vautard.
Once the trailer for Life After Z-Day was completed, Frozen Mercury assisted Sebrina Siegel in filming two short skits to be included in her demo reel titled "New You" and "For Matty". In New You, Sebrina got to show off her comedic side and her British accent. In For Matty, Sebrina starred alongside John Wells in a dramatic dialogue. Both of these skits can be seen on Frozen Mercury's website, frozenmercuryproductions.com.
Later that summer, the Life After Z-Day trailer was chosen as an Official Selection at the Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville, Ky. The trailer recieved much praise from the audience and other independent filmmakers.
In the Fall and Winter months, Frozen Mercury has been very busy behind the scenes, writing several screenplays for upcoming films, and working to make the company a Limited Liability Corporation.
In the coming months, Frozen Mercury will be holding auditions for their two newest films, "Comic Book World" and "Victim". We look forward to working with old friends and hope to meet some new ones as these projects unravel!
